Back and blogging again now... again...

Ok so my ability to write updates to this blog is directly proportional to my desire to update it. I figured that now. The less I do, the less gets done. Sheesh - its not like I'm un-busy. I am busy. Busy doing stuff.

SOooooo I am now blogging again and the 'plan' is to update this with my scribblings.

Its Valentines day tomorrow!

My partner likes Valentines very much. So much so that if you cut her in half (which would be considerably horrible and un-Valentine like) she would be full of love hearts. Possibly even love heart sweets (see picture) 'Loveday' as it has become known in our house is now as much of an event (if not more so) as Christmas. Actually this love fuelled mania got me to thinking that St. Valentine's Day has more of a legitimate, less complicated and arguably more interesting claim to the notion of a 'celebration'  where the exchanging of folded cardboard pictures and messages hidden in labelled folded paper along with the supply of an associated and branded gift is considered important. (Duh.. when is this NOT important!)...

In the immortal words of St. Someone-or-other... at some wedding I was at once... or was it a funeral...

"love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." - Corinthians 13:4-8

This feels a lot more valuable than some vague notion of a giddy overweight red suited beard wearing reindeer controlling sleigh jockey performing a home invasion through your heating system.. But that's just me being a cynical bastard - its ALL about LOVE... The pressure is not quite as directed because its nested in such a weird part of the year. A faithful nod must go to

Shrove Tuesday (a.k.a Pancake Day, a.k.a Pancake Tuesday, a.k.a The Day before Ash Wednesday the first day of Lent)...
Chinese New Year - That's right, 1 seventh of the population of Earth have a different date for NY on their calender...
Easter... Chocolate eggs, chocolate bars, chocolate... everything, oh and... crucifixion and resurrection and all that stuff.

Who names this stuff anyway? Lent indeed. LENT. Its not gaining any fans with a name like lent. I do love the idea of eating loads of pancakes (Eggs, flour, milk, mix, fry, coat in sugary stuff, eat repeat). I love pancakes - though yesterday my pancake 'mix' turned into some frothy white puke looking mass...

Anyhoo all this leads me to the following:

Embrace the true flavour of Valentine and send a valentine tomorrow. Don't get into trouble doing it. But in the spirit of Love send a message to someone to make their day. At worst the day will be a percentage point better and the global love counter will tick a bit faster... at worst you will get a Facebook stalker and accused of being a cheating tosser. Remember though... Love is kind!
